Look beyond the Mainstage for some sure-to-be-rewarding performances by The Moondoggies, Solomon Burke, Wheedle’s Groove, The Maldives, Booker T. and School of Rock All Stars, a showcase of student musicians.
Check the complete lineup of music, comedy, theater, film and other events here. And here’s a primer on the concept and history of Bumbershoot.
The 40th annual festival is huge a milestone for the Seattle institution that began as a quirky arts festival in the early ’70s. It has survived more than two generations of changing tastes.

The Seattle Times reviewer (who I won’t name here) just gave his Bumbershoot concert a very negative review. I don’t know where thshe was sitting or what concert she was listening to, but I was on the main floor w/my 20 year old son, surrounded by people from their 20′s to 60′s and we all LOVED the concert.
True, he doesn’t annunciate his lyrics, but he really never has. And true, his concert last year at the Moore and several years ago at Key Arena were both better, but Dylan & his band, particularly Charlie Sexton, LOVE playing together and it’s a rock band.
If people want to hear all his lyrics clearly, they should buy one of his books of lyrics. And anyone who needs him to clearly speak the words of LIKE A ROLLING STONE should probably just buy
Sorry – if you want to hear the lyrics of his songs, buy the early CDS.
