Safety meeting Thursday to address manhunt, area violence

While the manhunt to apprehend Maurice Clemmons carried on through the night and into morning in Leschi, the buzzing drone of Guardian 1 echoed across Capitol Hill, too. Those events and recent crimes including last week's murder on First Hill and this shooting on E. Union will be the topic of discussion this Thursday night at the monthly East Precinct Crime Prevention Coalition meeting.

The meetings usually include opportunities to ask questions directly to police officials. Capitol Hill residents are typically underrepresented at the meetings so make time if you'd like your questions or concerns to be heard. While the conversations at the meetings can sometimes veer into irrational fears and boogeymen, there is usually some good dialogue with the East Precinct commander and a surprising amount of frank talk about what is happening on the streets around us.
