Infuriated mom: Why can't I protect my body?
|
Amy Ellings of Olympia, pictured with infant Nick, was "definitely surprised and disappointed" when tests revealed 12 chemicals in her body--including 2210 parts per billion of a particular phthalate nicknamed MEP, putting her 90 percent above US adults. She since switched to unscented soaps and shampoos. She can't look for the chemical on products labels to try to avoid it. Labeling isn't required by government, and companies don't take it upon themselves to label such chemicals voluntarily.
